Nuclear energy is too toxic, too dangerous, too expensive, and too slow to build to be a solution to the affordability and climate crises facing families in our communities. It is also an environmental justice disaster, with Indigenous communities carrying a disproportionate share of the nuclear energy industry's harm. Despite all of this, Governor Hochul has decided to make nuclear reactors the center of NY State’s energy future, while the more affordable and quicker-to-implement renewable solutions are pushed aside.
Communities across New York are done accepting that. We understand that nuclear reactors are a false energy solution and we will fight for NY State to invest in an energy future that works for everyone.
Join us in Syracuse as a part of Communities Against Nuclear: Days of Action to protest Kathy Hochul’s dangerous nuclear expansion. These days of statewide distributed actions consists of rallies, press conferences, and teach-ins in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, the North Country, Binghamton, Westchester, New York City, and Long Island.
Our Syracuse action is organized by Haudenosaunee Environmental Task Force, Nuclear Information and Resource Service, Alliance for a Green Economy, and Heath Law Office, with support from Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation and All Saints Church's Care for Our Common Home task force.
These statewide events on June 30th and July 1st are led by NY Renews, Frack Action, Nuclear Information and Resource Service, Alliance for a Green Economy, Food & Water Watch, NY Public Interest Rsearch Group, Campaign for a Nuclear-Free North Country, and partners from several Haudenosaunee Nations.
