Attention Genesee County residents!
The County Legislature needs to hear from YOU about why the proposed STAMP Monster Data Center is a bad deal for Genesee County. Use our one click form to email them today.
If the Legislature passed a resolution placing a moratorium on the construction of data centers in Genesee County today, that would be the end of the STAMP monster data center plan. They passed a resolution on utility scale solar, they can do it for data centers!
Additionally, while the Legislature does not have direct decision-making power over the data center proposal, they DO have power over the GCEDC. The Legislature appoints members of the GCEDC Board of Directors and ultimately controls the GCEDC's charter.
Here's how to take action:
- Enter your name, zip code, and email address in the form to the right
- The form will automatically send an email to all members of the Legislature.
Here's what your letter will say:
"Dear Genesee County Legislature,
As a resident of Genesee County, I oppose the data center complex proposed by STREAM US Data Centers and Apollo Global Management for the STAMP mega industrial site in Alabama, NY. I oppose the financial incentives request submitted by STREAM US Data Centers to the GCEDC and I demand that GCEDC follow all of NYS DEC’s recommendations in the SEQR process.
Additionally, I call on the Genesee County Legislature to pass a resolution banning the future construction of data centers in the County. I am grateful to the Legislature for taking action to stop the construction of utility scale solar development in the County. Data centers similarly threaten our way of life and do not belong here.
- The STREAM and Apollo Global data center proposal is a BAD deal for Genesee County
- It won’t create jobs and won’t spur economic development. This deal would result in losses of $716 million in sales taxes to the County and local municipalities.
- $1.46 billion in tax abatements for Big Tech, multinational corporations, and Private Equity is outrageous. Let’s invest that $$$ in local businesses that care about our community instead!
- The County should NOT depend STREAM and Apollo to finance Phase 3 of the Water Supply Project. We need this water infrastructure in our County: let's not give any of our water to a data center, and let's find another way to pay for the needed upgrades.
- Apollo Global Management, the financial backer for STREAM US Data Centers, DOES NOT share our values!
- The application materials are full of gaps and inconsistencies. This is unacceptable! GCEDC must force STREAM to post complete, consistent documents and allow for time to review them before cutting off public comment
- GCEDC must reveal the identity of the eventual data center operator, NOW.
- The data center would raise electrical bills and lower property values, threatening our local cost of living
- Environmental risks of the data center are just too high: water pollution, air pollution, health impacts, threats to our wildlife and birds, the list goes on and on.
Our quality of life is at stake. We value peace, quiet, nature, and rural character, all under threat from the data center. I demand that you, as our local elected officials, take action to STOP the STAMP Data Center Complex, then take further action to protect Genesee County from future data center threats."
