What’s at Stake
After loosening environmental protections behind closed doors in the state budget last year, Kathy Hochul was just re-elected to serve four more years as the governor of New York State.
As her next term approaches, we are calling on her to give the people what they demand and deserve, including protections against AI data center development and their tech billionaire profiteers; access to clean and affordable plug-in solar panels to support the transition of NY’s economy away from the destruction that continued reliance on fossil fuels will cause; and an accurate assessment of deadly impacts that extreme heat and the climate crisis will have on the most vulnerable people in our state and pathways to address them.
Send the Governor a message: congratulations on your reelection. As you close out this term and look toward the next one, sign three key climate and environmental protection bills that await your pen:
-
Solar Up Now, New York Act (SUNNY Act, A.9111/S.8512B) cuts red tape so renters, homeowners, businesses, and schools can install plug-in solar to lower their energy bills and cut emissions.
-
The Responsible Data Center Development Act (S.10642/A.11560) places a one-year moratorium on data center development; requires utilities to establish an independent classification of service for large data centers; sets renewable energy goals for data center development; and provides robust protections for communities.
-
Extreme Heat Mortality Reporting bill (S.5056-B/A.755-B) requires the Department of Health to report on the number of heat stress deaths and heat-exacerbated deaths amid a worsening climate crisis.
Thank you,
Send her a letter today!
