STREAM US Data Centers and their financial backer, the private equity firm Apollo Global Management, want to build a monster data center at STAMP, which is under development by the GCEDC (Genesee County Economic Development Center).
The data center would cause jack up our electricity bills, scare away our wildlife, and cause air, noise, light, and water pollution. It would drive down property values and cause more blackouts and brownouts. It would ruin our peaceful, quiet, rural way of life.
STREAM is asking for $801 million dollars of our taxpayer dollars... an promising to create 125 jobs. That's $6.4 million / job. A monster data center is not a good investment for Genesee County.
At a recent Open House, STREAM passed out cards asking for "any comments or concerns you might have." So let's give them what they asked for! Tell them how you feel about the data center plan. And let's tell GCEDC and Apollo, too.
Do YOU want a monster data center in Genesee County? Why or why not?
